Dr. Richard P. Brown is an associate professor in clinical psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed medical school at Columbia University, followed by Psychiatry Residency and fellowship in Psychobiology and Psychopharmacology at Cornell University Medical College. A neuropsychiatrist and pioneer in Integrative Psychiatry, Dr. Brown co-authored over 100 scientific articles, chapters, and award-winning books. Clinical trials have validate his innovative breath-centered mind-body programs for treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, and stress-related medical conditions.
A long-term Zen meditator and certified teacher of Aikido (4th Dan), yoga, Qigong, meditation, and Open Focus Attention Training, Dr. Brown has taught mind-body programs at psychiatric meetings, academic centers, Buddhist monasteries, and yoga centers in the US and India. Dr. Brown and his wife, Dr. Patricia Gerbarg, created Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) stress and trauma relief programs for healthcare providers, First Responders, and adult and child survivors of war, genocide, COVID, and other mass disasters in the US and other countries. Studies show that their methods are safe and effective for military veterans and individuals with stress, trauma, and a wide range of psychological and medical conditions.
